Used to receiving orders at home… How would you feel if we told you that there was a platform that picks up your garbage for you and takes it away?
Recolec is the company in charge of this brilliant idea and that’s why we wanted to to interview its creators.
Let’s face it, we are going to save you a lot of trouble…
1. For those who still don’t know you…What is Recolec?
Recolec is the platform that throws away trash for you, while it motivates you to be more sustainable, betting for a city free of garbage in the streets.
How does it work?
You register and within the the hours allowed by the municipalities a picker arrives at your door, identifies, weighs and takes away the waste.
The user then receives an analysis of their level of recycling and consumption with tips to improve their recycling.
2. How did you come up with your project?
We were always fighting to see who disposed of the garbage at home.
There are more than 19 million households in Spain, so we saw a big problem and an important market.
Europe has recycling goals to meet and in Spain we still have a long way to go , but we also see that there is a society that is increasingly becoming more and more interested in recycling. So that gave us a need and a and an interest in the market.

We set out to find a solution to this situation.
3.In today’s competitive world, what is the trait that differentiates you from the rest ? Why choose to recycle with Recolec?
We are a differentiating service because it is not common to find companies that provide the service of collecting garbage and waste at the door of your home. Many work to bring what you want to your door, but who takes what you no longer want?
In addition to the convenience we offer, we motivate the user to recycle more and better without having to leave home. Our users are recycling an average of 50% of their household waste,15% more than the average in Spain.
4. How did you end up at ULab?
We had worked in other coworking spaces before and the experience was very good, but for this project we wanted a StartUp ecosystem and ULab is that place in Alicante, and our biggest surprise is the level of networking they have and the support they give you.
5. What does ULab give you as an entrepreneurial space?
The atmosphere is very friendly, the good vibes can be felt in the corridors, but undoubtedly the networking has been one of the greatest values it has.
6. What benefits does the Virtual Office service at ULab have for your company?
Having your address with an office at ULab helps us in credibility, especially when nobody knows you, but it is much more than a virtual office, the spaces and meeting rooms and the flexibility of use is the real added value.
7. To know more about you…
When you are not working on your project, what do you usually spend your free time on?
We won’t lie to you, this is one of those startups that are in their initial stages and like everyone at this stage, time is something we don’t have, but family is a priority.
8.Finally, based on your experience, what advice would you give to someone who wants to start a business? Positive and negative aspects.
Not everyone is made for entrepreneurship.
In the initial phase there is a lot of uncertainty and you have to be constantly adjusting your plans, but if you are passionate about that level of risk and adrenaline, the experience is very rewarding!
